The APAIE Capacity Building Workshop, hosted by SGT University in Delhi, India, brought together 30+ participants from across the higher education sector for an engaging two-day program focused on strengthening internationalisation strategies and partnerships.
The workshop was formally inaugurated with a welcome address by Dr. Hemant Verma, Vice Chancellor of SGT University, and an inauguration speech by Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Ariffin Abu Hassan, President of APAIE. The event was also honoured by the presence of Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities, who joined as the Special Guest and addressed the gathering.
The workshop featured expert-led and interactive sessions delivered by leading international education practitioners from across the region. Participants explored key themes including internationalisation strategy, transnational education, international student experience, pedagogy for contemporary learners, and internationalisation at home.
Sessions were led by distinguished speakers including Lucinda Malgas (APAIE) on global engagement and sector context, Prof. Bhawna Kumar on the latest trends on internationalisation of higher education sector in India, Dr. Vanita Shastri on developing internationalisation strategies, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Ariffin Abu Hassan on on Erasmus+ program and its benefits to India, Dr. Rozilini Mary Fernandez-Chung and Prof. Muthupandian Ashokkumar on transnational education partnerships. Guy Perring on international student recruitment and positioning India as a study destination also included an engaging student panel discussion, Dr. Rita John on pedagogy aligned with today’s learners, and Dr. Nidhi Piplani Kapur on internationalisation at home as a strategic priority.
Through practical frameworks, collaborative exercises, and peer-to-peer learning, participants exchanged ideas and explored approaches to building sustainable international partnerships and strengthening institutional capacity.
Beyond the sessions, the program also fostered meaningful connections through structured networking opportunities and curated cultural experiences, including a cultural evening celebrating local traditions and hospitality. Participants who completed the program were awarded an official APAIE-accredited e-badge, recognising their engagement and professional development.
The workshop was organised by Dr. Reshu Sanan, SGT University and Lucinda Malgas, Global Engagement Manager at APAIE, whose leadership and guidance helped create an engaging and collaborative learning environment.
