Mervin Bakker has been Executive Director of the EAIE since 2024. In his 25-years career in international education he has held various international roles at the Universities of Amsterdam and Groningen (as SIO). Mervin was also Regional Director for Nuffic in South Africa and Indonesia. In Southeast Asia and Southern Africa he worked on various programmes like SHARE, an ASEAN-EU initiative to strengthen regional co-operation and enhance internationalisation of ASEAN higher education institutions and students.
