Overview
In an age where higher education requires connection more than ever, linking cultures, minds, knowledge, and technologies on university campuses is crucial for fostering global citizens, driving innovation, and addressing complex challenges. Inspired by the legacy of cultural convergence exemplified by regions with rich cross-cultural histories, many forward-looking universities have embraced the role of dynamic laboratories for international academic exchange and multicultural dialogue.
To advance this role, an interesting case study on how University of Macau (UM) embraces a strategic framework of “Three Bridges”: connecting Eastern and Western cultures, strengthening interdisciplinary studies, and transcending geographic borders – with a new campus extending into the prospering Greater Bay Area serves as an illustrative example. This approach enables institutions to uphold inclusive diversity, catalyse integrative knowledge, and deepen global collaboration, offering a forward-looking model of practice for creating opportunity, navigating challenges, and embracing a transformative future.
