Submission Guidelines

Outlined below are the guidelines that must be followed when submitting your general proposal to APAIE 2027. Please follow these guidelines when submitting your proposal for APAIE 2027:

  • Every submission requires a coordinator who is the point of contact between the APAIE 2027 program manager and the members of the proposal. The coordinator does not need to be part of the proposal. They are responsible for collecting all the details for the submission proposal. The coordinator is required to set up an account in the submission portal in order to submit proposals and acts on behalf of all the members of the proposal.
  • All submissions must be in English. English is the official conference language, and all presentations must also be in English.
  • References are not required for submissions.
  • The Proposal Submission Portal includes the following sections and all parts are mandatory:
    • Title
Clearly convey the content of your proposal in about 10 words (130 characters).
    • Abstract

Provide a clear and concise description of the content your session will cover, up to 200 words.
    • Learning objectives

What are the key takeaways for your audience? Clearly state how an APAIE audience will benefit from your proposal.
Please list as dot points, up to 150 words.
    • Target audience
Who will benefit most from your session? (e.g. those working in recruitment, student support, or with an interest in TNE, the SDGs, etc.) Max 325 characters.
    • Participants/presenters – Please note: No individual may be included in more than three (3) proposals.
    • Details of each participant of your proposal and their role. Be clear as to whether or not you need to include a Chair (see Presentation Formats below). You must consult with each participant prior to submission to ensure they consent to being included in your proposal, they plan to attend APAIE 2027 in person, and they provide you with their required details:
      • Role in session (presenter, chair, chair-presenter, etc)
      • Job/position title
      • Organisation
      • Country/region
      • Presenter experience – list up to 5 most recent events where this person presented (e.g. APAIE 2026, NAFSA 2023, AIEC 2019 …)
      • Brief bio – A brief bio of up to 75 words in the third person, as a single paragraph
    • Presentation format
Individual or group presentation, or poster. See below for further details of type. Note, research papers have a separate submission process.
    • Duration
Indicate preference of 30mins or 45mins.
    • Stream
      Select the most appropriate stream.
  • APAIE values original submissions and gives preference to proposals developed specifically for APAIE 2027.
  • Ensure your submission meets the stated criteria.
  • Proposal submissions must be complete and received by the deadline of 24 June 2026, 23:59 hours AEST

IMPORTANT NOTE:

It is important that all details in your proposal are confirmed at time of submission i.e. presenter information, abstract, learning objectives etc. as proposals will be assessed on the content provided at the time of submission.
Should your proposal be accepted into the program, any changes made to the content of the proposal after the initial submission may require further re-assessment. In such cases, it is not guaranteed that your proposal will still be included in the program.

General Proposal Criteria

As more proposals are submitted than can be accommodated, the reviewers consider the following criteria when making their assessment:

  • Relevance to the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Overall quality of proposal.
  • Connection and relevance to the conference theme and nominated stream.
  • Clarity of objectives – clearly state how an APAIE audience will benefit from your proposal.
  • Proposed content is not a promotion of your products, services nor organization. (You may use your organization as an example or case study to support the aim of your presentation but it must be balanced with other examples or case studies.)
  • Interest to an APAIE audience: How topical, innovative, and new is the perspective presented?

Incomplete submissions or proposals not written in English cannot be processed and will not be reviewed.

No revisions are possible after the submission deadline.

Conference Theme

Humanity in the AI age: engaging Asia-Pacific perspectives

There have been several revolutions with major impact on how humans live, from the agricultural revolution to the industrial revolution to the digital revolution and now the current AI revolution.

As AI-generated content starts to look the same, the differentiating factor is the human touch. Whilst AI will continue to improve and enhance various aspects of our daily lives, the human element remains central to success.

In a world increasingly shaped by algorithms, the future of global education must remain anchored in humanity. International education serves as a covenant of care, where technological intelligence is guided by empathy, ethics, and human dignity, and where wellbeing becomes a central measure of progress.

For the Asia-Pacific, this vision is transformative. As the world’s most culturally diverse and dynamically evolving region, it holds immense promise. Through AI and digital connectivity, internationalisation moves beyond elite mobility toward mass inclusivity, expanding access not only to knowledge, but to belonging, safety, and holistic wellbeing.

APAIE 2027 is not looking for an entire program with every session focused on AI! Rather it is about the challenges, successes, best practices, impacts, and more, of the international higher education sector, with a particular focus on how Asia-Pacific higher education navigates and adapts within the current AI revolution, ensuring humanity remains at the core.

Streams

We welcome a diverse range of contributions under the following streams for a more inclusive, resilient, and dynamic global education landscape, where partnerships serve as the cornerstone for achieving the common good. This may include research findings, institutional case studies, policy perspectives, program evaluations, innovative models of collaboration, and best practice.

The APAIE 2027 program has four streams:

  1. Student experience and wellbeing
  2. Partnerships and mobility
  3. Programs
  4. Student recruitment

Student wellbeing is the foundation of student success and shapes the student experience. A student’s journey spans pre-arrival, transition, academic integration, social belonging, mental health, safety, and post-study outcomes. It includes culturally responsive support, inclusive campus design, and holistic wellbeing (academic, emotional, financial, social).

Topic areas may include (but are not limited to):

  • Transition and belonging
  • Mental health and holistic wellbeing
  • Academic experience and success
  • AI’s role in student experience and wellbeing
  • Safety and inclusion on campus and in broader community
  • Employability and post-study outcomes

These strategic collaborations may occur between institutions, industry, governments, etc, and facilitate activities such as staff/student mobility, research, capacity building, joint programs, and so on; and can occur face-to-face, virtually, or a combination of both (hybrid).

Topic areas may include (but are not limited to):

  • AI supported and enabled partnerships and mobility
  • Transnational education models and quality assurance
  • Regional and intra-Asia mobility
  • Sustainability and ethics in mobility
  • Alternative mobility models on offer

This stream incorporates things like the designing and delivery of relevant, innovative, future-focused curriculum and learning experiences for diverse local and international cohorts.

Topic areas may include (but are not limited to):

  • AI- assisted curriculum design and delivery methods
  • Future ready programs aligned with industry demands and skills for a changing world
  • Quality and assurance across multi-location delivery
  • Global citizenship and curriculum design
  • Internationalisation of the curriculum
  • Student voice in curriculum design

This stream considers all facets of student recruitment such as attracting, converting, and enrolling international and local students through ethical, data-informed strategies.

Topic areas may include (but are not limited to):

  • AI enabled recruitment methods
  • Source regions/countries and regional strategies
  • Brand and positioning
  • Role of agents in recruitment process
  • Student decision making and outcomes
  • Ethical considerations in student recruitment
