Taxi
Please note that taxis in Hong Kong only accept cash payment.
It is advised to take the Urban Red Taxi from Hong Kong International Airport.
The cost of an Urban Red Taxi from Hong Kong International Airport to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is approximately HKD 335 (these prices can vary).

Mass Transit Railway (MTR)
Hong Kong has an excellent public transport system, the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) is the best option to travel to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition. See more details about Hong Kong’s transportation here.
The most convenient way to pay is by using an Octopus Card, a rechargeable smart card that can also be used for shopping and dining. This can be purchased at the Hong Kong International Airport or downloaded as an app on your phone. See more details about the Octopus Card here.
You can also use contactless credit/debit cards and mobile payment methods like Apple Pay on the MTR.
English, Cantonese and Mandarin is widely spoken in Hong Kong, with English being the language of preference in the government, business and tourism sectors. All official signs and public transport announcements are in both English and Chinese.
The official currency is the Hong Kong dollar (HK$). It is advisable to check around for the most favourable exchange rates.

The general banking hours for major banks are:
Monday to Friday: 9am – 5pm (some banks/branches operate extended hours)
Saturday: 9am – 1pm (selected branches only)
Hong Kong operates on HKT (UTC+8) year-round, with no daylight saving.
Hong Kong electricity uses voltage of 220V, and the plug type is UK-style (Type G).
Tipping
Tipping is not mandatory; a 10% service charge is often included in bills. Tipping extra is appreciated but not expected.
Water
Tap water is safe to drink but many locals prefer bottled or boiled water.
Dining Etiquette
Sharing is common at restaurants; dishes are usually shared family-style.
It is a traditional gesture of gratitude, when someone serves you tea, tap the table with two fingers as a thank you.
When taking a pause from eating, never stick your chopsticks upright in right – it resembles incense at funerals and is considered bad luck.
Dining Hours
Breakfast: Dim sum starts early, around 7am to 8am.
Lunch: 12pm to 2pm is peak time.
Dinner: Typically, 6pm to 9pm. Late-night eats are common in areas like Tsim Sha Tsui and Causeway Bay.

Requests received after 15 December 2025 cannot be rolled over to APAIE 2027.
There are no single-day passes. All registrations are for all days of the conference.
We have secured a variety of accommodation options located around the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The accommodation options are within walking distance or is a short trip via the MTR to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. You can book your accommodation at a discounted rate with the hotels directly through our accommodation page.
Although there is no shuttle service available from the accommodation options to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, we have sourced accommodation options that are either within walking distance or a short trip via the MTR.
If you are unable to register prior to APAIE 2026, you can register on-site at the Registration Desk. Please note, payment will be required at this time via credit card only (AMEX not accepted).

Upon full payment of the Conference and Exhibition registration fees, you may request for an invitation letter by emailing registration@apaie.net. Invitation letters will not be supplied to unpaid or unregistered participants, and we reserve the right to refuse to provide invitation letters for attendees. Please note that while we do not obtain the required supporting documents for a Conference visa, obtaining a visa remains the sole responsibility of the participant. Supporting documents to assist in applying for your visa will be available at the time of registration opening.
Yes, a Certificate of Attendance will be sent to all participants post Conference.
We encourage people with disabilities to participate in the program and social activities. Please contact registration@apaie.net to request services or other accommodations for any special needs or note these on your registration form.
If you have dietary requirements, please be sure to mark those on the space provided on the registration form when you register.
Professionals who work in or provide services to the international education sector. Conference delegates, presenters and exhibitors usually include the following representatives:
APAIE 2026 expects 2,500+ delegates in attendance from 60+ countries/regions.
Virtual registrations are not available as APAIE 2026 is an in-person event.
The full program will not be recorded, however the PDFs of the presentation slides (for those presenters who have agreed to share) will be available post-conference for APAIE 2026 registered delegates only.
Both General proposals and Academic Research Papers submissions close on 24 June 2025 23:59 AEST
Authors of Academic Research Papers will be notified via email by mid-July, and authors of General Proposals will receive their notification by early September.
Yes, as a proposal participant, you are required to register and pay for the conference. However, the coordinator is not required to register unless they have an active role in the proposal, such as serving as a presenter or chair.
Yes, all presenters and chairs are eligible to register at the speaker rate. However, for posters, only one author is entitled to register at the speaker rate.
The presentation may be delivered by another named author, this author must have been included in the original submission. Please email program@apaie.net to notify us of any presenter changes. If no other author is available to attend, kindly inform us as soon as possible so that the slot can be allocated to a waitlisted presenter who is ready to present in person.

There will be a Speaker Preparation Room available for you to finalise and load your presentation. Please ensure you deliver your presentation to the technicians in the Speaker Preparation Room at least 3 hours prior to your session. The location and opening times for this room will be advised closer to the time of the Conference.

You may advise your preferred location, and we’ll do our best to accommodate but many factors are taken into account when planning the exhibition layout.
Please email us at queries@apaie.net and provide us with more information regarding your intended reception held at the booth. and advise us of your intentions to hold a reception at your booth. We do ask that this does not clash with the APAIE 2026 program.
Participation in the APAIE Conference and Exhibition is open to everyone – no membership is required. APAIE is exploring options for a membership program which may be introduced over the coming years.
