11D – Career readiness in the AI age: what students need, what employers expect, and how institutions can respond

14:30 - 15:15 23/03/27 ROOM MY 10

Abstract

As AI reshapes work, recruitment, and early-career pathways, international students need clearer support to understand the return on their education and build the capabilities employers value. This session draws on global employability data, institutional insight, and employer perspectives to examine how students define career readiness, where gaps remain between expectations and labour-market needs, and which support models help graduates succeed. Building on the speakers indepth knowledge of the topic, each coming from different angles, combining data insights with pragmatic experiences, the panel will highlight practical ways institutions can integrate employability across the student journey through careers support, transferable skills development, professional certification, work-integrated learning, and cross-sector collaboration. Participants will gain ideas to strengthen student outcomes, suggestions to improve institutional value propositions, and align provision with evolving workforce demands.
