Abstract: The rapid rise of artificial intelligence has renewed a basic question for higher education: what kinds of learning must remain embodied, relational and culturally grounded? For arts education, this question is especially urgent. As learning becomes increasingly digital, virtual and automated, the arts remind us that education is also about presence, judgement, interpretation, collaboration, wellbeing and human agency. This presentation offers an Asia-Pacific perspective from Singapore’s specialist arts education context, where diverse artistic traditions, regional cultural flows and lifelong learning intersect. Drawing on NAFA’s experience across music, theatre and dance programmes, adult and continuing education, curriculum renewal and selected cross-border partnerships, the session proposes a lifelong arts learning ecosystem. The ecosystem connects pre-professional exposure, higher education pathways, professional development, adult learning and regional artistic exchange. It asks how AI can support access and flexible pathways, while keeping empathy, mentorship, cultural memory and human dignity central to how arts learners are guided and cared for. Rather than treating internationalisation as mobility or recruitment alone, the session reframes it as embodied learning, cultural formation and lifelong participation across life stages. Participants will take away transferable questions and a practical framework for adapting this approach to their own institutional contexts. Learning objectives: By attending this session, participants will be able to: 1. Examine the tension between AI-enabled virtual learning and the embodied, relational nature of arts education. 2. Consider how a lifelong arts learning ecosystem can connect pre-professional pathways, higher education, adult learning, professional development and regional partnerships. 3. Reflect on how AI can support access, personalisation and flexible learning while preserving mentorship, cultural memory, wellbeing and human judgement. 4. Reframe internationalisation beyond mobility and recruitment towards cultural formation, cross-border artistic exchange and lifelong participation. 5. Identify transferable questions and approaches that may be adapted to their own institutional contexts, particularly in relation to future-ready programmes and Asia-Pacific collaboration.
